Paul Sturrock was happy with the way his back four kept Wolves out
Plymouth Argyle boss Paul Sturrock was full of praise for 19-year-old striker Ashley Barnes, who made his full debut in Saturday's 1-0 win at Molineux.
Barnes played his part in Argyle's first win since Boxing Day.
"It was a big decision to make, but I was very confident after watching him in training," Sturrock told BBC Devon.
"He pestered them all afternoon and he could have got the second goal for us. I'm pleased for him because he had a good debut."
The win over wobbling Championship leaders Wolves came thanks to Paul Gallagher's overhead kick after just 39 seconds. And, admittedly, the visitors were helped by one glaring second-half miss from former Argyle striker Sylvan Ebanks-Blake.
But Sturrock was delighted with how his defence performed.
"You can't come to places like this and think you're not going to be under pressure," admitted the Argyle boss.
"You've got to adapt and play as high up the pitch as you can when you clear your lines. And I thought the back four were magnificent."
Victory for Argyle, who also took a point off Wolves at Home Park on the first of day of the season, has lifted them five points clear of danger.
