Sturrock targets three more wins

Sturrock's target will mean Argyle will have to win half of their remaining games

Plymouth Argyle boss Paul Sturrock says his side must win three of their last six games to ensure their survival in the Championship.

Argyle went down 1-0 at fellow strugglers Norwich on Saturday and the Pilgrims are now just three points off the relegation places.

"The important thing for us is that we need to win three games," Sturrock told BBC Radio Devon.

"We need to get into the 52 point bracket if we're going to be safe."

"That puts a lot of pressure on us, but in the last three or four games we've been undefeated at home and we're going to very much have to call on the players again," he added.

Argyle had gone three games without defeat prior to the loss at Norwich, including a win at leaders Wolves and a draw at home to third-placed Reading.

But Sturrock says his side's inability to get the opening goal is costing them dear

"We've lost an awful lot of games away from home 1-0 this year or 2-0 late on when we're chasing the game," he said.

"Any time we've gone ahead away from home, or at home, we've won the game."
