Prize cash to go to Otley players

Peter Clegg
Clegg has been unable to select from a full side for weeks due to injuries and the pay dispute

Otley will give any National League One prize money to their players.

The team currently cannot afford to pay their squad but have stated any money received for their final league placing will be used to pay the players.

The RFU have declared they will reward prize money to clubs that finish in the relegation zone but above the top two.

"If we finish third from bottom we get £10,000 and that will be given to the players," head coach Peter Clegg told BBC Radio Leeds.

The West Yorkshire club play second-bottom Manchester at Cross Green on Saturday (kick-off 1500 BST) and a win would move them above their opponents.

One of Otley's two wins this season in the league came at Manchester in November, as they ran our 15014 winners.

Clegg added: "I don't think that result will have much bearing on this one.

"Having beaten them away and now having home advantage you'd like to think we can turn them over.

"We are just going to try and put out a competitive squad, that's our main aim.

"We've played some good rugby recently and hopefully that will get its reward on Saturday.
