Truro College's under-18 side have won through to the final of the Daily Mail Schools Cup in dramatic fashion.

The college drew 19-19 with John Fisher School in Coventry meaning the match went down to penalty kick shootout.

Both sides converted their kicks from in front of the posts, but once the ball was moved out wide John Fisher struggled while Truro held their nerve.

Truro, who had never got beyond the last 16 before, will face Gloucester's St Peter's School in the final.

But John Fisher levelled with two tries and a conversion of their own in the second half, after which both sides traded penalties until the end of the game.

"This was a very hard way to win a game, and we would have preferred to do it during actual game play," said Truro coach Steve Larkins. "However, the result has gone our way and we are delighted with that.

"This has been a long time coming for the school. We have been taking rugby very seriously at the college for some 12 years now, so after a lot of hard work from the likes of Robin Cowling, Ricky Pellow and Will Davis, we are over the moon to have reached the final," he added.

Truro play at Twickenham on Wednesday, 1 April.
