Vagas lead the division by four points. |
Vagabonds Ladies maintained their unbeaten record in North West Division Two on Saturday with a thumping 28-5 victory away to Northwich. Despite several changes in personnel, the Manx side led 14-0 at the interval through Rachel Beckley and Fran Hunt, Cat Beswick converting both tries. In the second half, Sorrel Williams and Lizzie Lennon both added tries with Beckley again kicking immaculately. Northwich finally broke down the Vagas defence for a late consolation score. Coach Darrin Cook said: "I'm very pleased with this result, especially as we had so many injuries. "To score after just 40 seconds was great - it really settled the nerves and I thought the girls were excellent in both attack and defence." The win sees Vagabonds open up a four-point gap over second-placed Manchester. Vagas' next fixture is at home to the same opposition at Glencrutchery Road on 22 March.
