Vagabonds captain Fran Hunt inspired her unbeaten side to a 48-31 victory against Leigh in North West Division Two on Saturday.

Hunt scored four tries in a hard-fought victory against promotion rivals Leigh at Glencrutchery Road.

Vagas are now level on points with Manchester at the top of the league with Leigh seven points back in third.

Coach Darrin Cook said: I'm delighted with the level of performance, we're improving week on week."

"Fran [Hunt] had an absolute stormer and in the second-half we introduced five new faces, which is a real bonus," added Cook.

In the first-half Hunt scored two tries with Lizzie Lennon and Sorrell Williams adding further scores. Cat Beswick added two conversions to give Vagas a 24-7 lead at the break.

The visitors fought back in the second-half but another two tries from Hunt plus additional tries from Lizzie Lennon and Cassie Watterson made the game safe.

Vagas' next game will be away at Northwich on 28 February.
