An impressive win over Otley, which saw a second-half performance that produced five tries and some fantastic rugby. This was the kind of rugby the frozen crowd were looking for especially after the slow start in which the early part of the game resembled a wrestling match. As for me there has been very little training and input as I'm waiting to have a scan on my elbow. I was taken off against Coventry after hyper extending my elbow. This was not the early Christmas present I was looking for, but that's rugby. There were of course some advantages to being injured over the Christmas period. One was being able to sample Chris Morgan's culinary skills. He prepared some fantastic homemade food, including pork pies, sausage rolls, a succulent honey-glazed ham and selection of cheeses. The man did me proud as this made for a fantastic Christmas party. We also enjoyed a suckling pig that was cooked for us by Peter George at the Yacht Inn. Not too many men would have been as generous and giving as this on Christmas day. If you're one of the lucky few that are friends with me on Facebook, you would have seen the infamous pig. If you didn't realise it was a pig you were looking at, I'll understand. It does resemble a dog. I'll leave you to make your own mind up. Generally, the festive period went off without a hitch. We managed just a day and a half off. But this was filled with good food and good company. That is the down side of National One rugby; it never stops, not even for the Christmas period. Paves carves up his Christmas pig. Or is it a dog? |
On to next week: It's going to be one hell of a tough encounter against Nottingham, with both teams looking to continue their winning ways, not to mention them wanting to hold onto their league place. I think we owe them one after their deserved victory at Camborne earlier in the season. The team was very disappointed and looking forward to making things right. I only wish they were a little closer, the drive is one of the longest of the year and this always makes for a tough away trip. Hopefully the journey home will be more bearable with a win under our belts! That's all for me this week. I hope you had a great Christmas and all the best for 2009. Grind on. Paves.
