Sharrott's side are seven places off a promotion spot |
Guernsey Rugby Club captain Simon Sharrott says his side must not lose any more games if their feint chances of promotion are to stay alive. The island side were convincingly beaten 42-19 at home by leaders Chichester on Saturday, but Sharrott remains confident they can still go up. "If we slip up too many more times then obviously promotion goes out of the window," he told BBC Guernsey. "We're a very accomplished team and on our day we can beat anybody," he added. "Unfortunately you have to get those results consistently and we're not doing that at the minute." And despite being in eighth place in the 12-team London Division Three South West, and just four points off the drop zone, Sharrott is certain that his side will not go down. "We're not in a relegation battle or dog-fight or anything like that. "I think we are struggling with a number of injuries and a few of the young boys are coming in. "It's a steep learning curve for them and it will help their development," he said.
