Le Bourgois scored 15 of Jersey's 30 points against the Royal Artillery |
Jersey beat the Royal Artillery 30-7 in Saturday's annual Wilkes Cup meeting at St Peter. The game, which commemorates the first-ever match for the island side, saw a youthful Jersey team take to the field. Teenager Ed Dawson scored the first try for Jersey before skipper Talite Vaioleti crossed twice. 18-year-old Michael Le Bourgois converted all three tries and kicked three penalties as Jersey scored all their points in the first half. Head coach Ben Harvey told BBC Radio Jersey that he was glad his young side had played so well. "It was very pleasing because sometimes you put your faith in players and you're not sure," said Harvey. "But they all stepped up today. "Michael Le Bourgois continues to show fantastic things and his goal-kicking today was exceptional."
