Exeter Chiefs scrum-half Clive Stuart-Smith believes Saturday's match with third-placed Nottingham at Sandy Park will be a "ferocious" affair.
The BBC Devon online columnist says the match will help decide which of the two sides is best placed to challenge Leeds at the top of National League One.
"It's going to be a ferocious game," he told BBC Spotlight.
"Nottingham have been playing some great rugby and we're obviously doing our homework on them."
He added: "They beat us on the last occasion we met but we won the previous two.
"But form of goes out of the window when you're playing the third team."
Nottingham are in a rich vein of form, having won a club record nine straight matches in National League One.
Stuart-Smith added: "We can't underestimate them and they'll be coming here looking to get a result. Obviously it'll be something we'll be looking to try and stop them doing."
