Exeter Chiefs found the going tough before securing victory at bottom-of-the-table Manchester.

They did manage four tries and pick up the bonus point, but the Chiefs failed to rack up the expected big score.

Flanker Chris Cracknell scored his first try for Exeter, followed by wing Matt Jess, back-row Chad Slade and full-back Emyr Lewis.

But Exeter's forwards disappointed and their kicking was well below par.
