Esher's director of rugby Mike Schmid expressed his disappointment after seeing his side slump to a 52-8 defeat at home to Leeds Carnegie.
The visitors on their first ever visit to the Pillar Data Arena raced to a 19-0 lead after just 18 minutes.
Schmid told BBC Southern Counties Radio: "Leeds are a top of the table side so some would expect to lose.
"The manner of the tries we gave away and decisions we made out there I'm not happy with."
The home side suffered an injury blow after 34 minutes when centre Neil Taylor limped off with what looked like a serious knee injury.
Esher did exert some pressure on the visitors at the start of the second half but Schmid acknowledged his side did not take their chances
"We had five or six set-pieces in their 22 and lost three of them," Schmid added.
"We put ourselves in the right positions in the second half with the wind behind us, which was our game plan. We've got to execute chances while we're there."
Esher travel to Moseley next and Schmid feels it is a game his side have to win if they are to ensure survival in National One: "Moseley are a team we need to compete against if they are going to shrink the division.
"I think it's a team we can play against against, it's a game we've got to go and try and win."
Esher are 12th in National League One with 14 points.
