Aldershot 1-0 Port Vale

Louis Soares' stunning goal early on was enough to give Aldershot victory over Port Vale and lift them above their visitors in the League Two table.

The winger cut in from the right and gave goalkeeper Joe Anyon no chance with a drive from the edge of the box.

Vale should have equalised through Luke Rodgers but Scott Davies, who earlier hit the bar, cleared off the goal-line.

John Grant and Danny Hylton went close for the Shots and at the death Nikki Bull saved from Vale's Ross Davidson.
