Crooks buys into Cambridge vision

Cambridge forwards coach Bob Crooks has said he has completely bought into the club's aims and ambitions.

Crooks had been taking a break from the sport before being tempted back into coaching at Cambridge this summer.

Crooks told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "They weren't being too grand, they weren't saying that they want to be a Premiership club because they won't be.

"They just want to be a good solid community club at the top of the national league."

Crooks has previously worked with the Saracens academy and was director of rugby at Bracknell.

Cambridge have won six of their opening seven matches in National Two this season and Crooks believes the club have the right grounding for future success.

"I like to buy into a vision and here it's a sound vision which isn't based on huge benefactors," he said.

However, Crooks admitted he is always on the look-out for new challenges and expects to move on once the job is done.

"I don't stick around at any one club for too long because I don't think coaches do in rugby," Crook said.
