Penzance-based Mounts Bay and Cornish Pirates have come to an agreement over loaning players between clubs. The Pirates, who own the Mennaye field where Bay play their home games, will loan players to the National Two side. "It's good for both sides as some of their players can get match time and we can get some stronger players," Bay president Michael Leah told BBC Sport. It is not yet known which players will join Mounts Bay, but the club is looking for new blood at second row. But Leah was keen to stress that the two clubs remain completely separate and that Mounts Bay are not changing into a feeder club for their more senior neighbours. | We've got a fairly tidy squad here and with this news it'll be pretty competitive this year Mounts Bay President Michael Leah |
"We are an independent club," said Leah. "Yes we share the Mennaye with the Pirates but that's where the similarity ends. "We are not funded by Pirates, that's done by myself and the club sponsors." Bay, who were only founded in 1999, go into the season as new boys in National League Two, following their seventh promotion in nine years. And Leah thinks that with the addition of some Cornish Pirates, Mounts Bay will be strong in National Two this coming season. "We've got a fairly tidy squad here and with this news it'll be pretty competitive this year," he said.
