Nick Abendanon set up one try and scored another as England Saxons beat Scotland A to reach the Churchill Cup final next weekend. Ollie Barkley's penalty was the only score until just before half-time when Abendanon set up an attack rounded off when David Paice stretched to score.
His footballing skills were useful again just after the break as he controlled a kick-through to score.
Calum McRae's late penalty was Scotland's only reply.
Afterwards, Saxons coach Jim Mallinder tipped Bath full-back Abendanon for a possible late call-up to the full England squad for the World Cup.
"There are players in this team who are holding their hands up for England selection," said Mallinder.
"Brian Ashton has said he will look at all three games. There are certainly players who are pushing for World Cup places.
"I wouldn't say Abendanon is a surprise package. He has been one of the most outstanding full-backs in the Premiership this season and I think he has a very good chance of making the World Cup squad."
Scotland coach Frank Hadden was left to rue missed opportunities after his side failed to convert their possession into points.
"It is always a concern," he said.
"We don't have that history of outscoring teams on the try count. That is not our track record and it does concern me.
"I am delighted we are creating more opportunities and we are spending more time in the opposition 22. Rest assured, we will spend a lot of time addressing that."
