Fiji hammered England 40-19 to win the Singapore Sevens, extending their lead in the IRB Sevens standings to 10 points over England in the process.

Fiji got off to a great start when Sireli Nagelevuki scored a converted try inside the first minute.

England hit back with tries by Tom Varndell and Mathew Tait to take a 14-7 lead, but Fiji then cut loose.

They ran in five consecutive tries to wrap up victory, including two within 70 seconds by Filimoni Bolavucu.

Earlier Fiji brushed aside Argentina 26-7 to reach the final, while England beat South Africa 33-14.

New Zealand's poor tournament continued as they lost 24-5 to Pacific rivals Samoa in the Plate semi-finals.

In the Bowl last four Scotland, who failed to progress from their pool on points difference, lost to Kenya 26-14.
