Coley knows how keen his club are for a first Grand Final in seven years |
Wigan prop Andy Coley says the club are totally focused on making a Grand Final appearance to follow their first Super League leaders' shield in 10 years. "Our first goal was to finish at the top of the league," said Coley. "And our next is to get to the Grand Final. "Our focus hasn't changed. It's about realising what is at stake and Old Trafford is the goal for us." Wigan take on Leeds at Headingley on Saturday evening (1715 BST) in the second of the qualifying semi-finals. After three successive Grand Final wins, and with home advantage, Leeds will start as favourites, especially having beaten Wigan 27-26 so dramatically, thanks to Kevin Sinfield's late drop goal followed by Pat Richards' missed touchline penalty, in the first stage of the play-offs on 12 September. Leeds also beat Wigan 12-10 thanks to Lee Smith's last-gasp try in the Challenge Cup quarter-final in May. But, in the regular season, Wigan were twice winners, having beaten the Rhinos 24-4 at home in March before winning 26-12 at Headingley in late July. In beating Hull KR last Friday night, Wigan have already shown that they have bounced back. And Coley fully expects the 2010 league leaders to build on that performance at Headingley come Saturday teatime. | 606: DEBATE |
"We showed on Friday night that we've got back into form and bounced back from the disappointment of two weeks ago," said Coley. "But Leeds are a quality team. That's why they're champions. They know how to win these sort of games so we're going to have to be good to get the result. "We came through the game on Friday unscathed so hopefully we'll be able to carry a bit of momentum through to the next game."
