Coley spent six years playing for the Reds |
Wigan have agreed terms to sign Salford front rower Andy Coley on a two-year deal following confirmation of the Reds' relegation from Super League. The 29-year-old joined the Reds in 2001 and earned his first Great Britain cap in the recent game against France.
"He'll be a welcome reinforcement to our pack where his experience will also be helpful," said coach Brian Noble.
"I wish Salford all the best but I'm set to join a great club and I must admit I'm very excited," said Coley.
Club chairman Maurice Lindsay, who is in hospital recovering from minor surgery, promised fans more signings would be on their way even though he was leaving the club at the end of the season.
"It is true that, with my retirement, the club will change hands at the end of the season. but we still have a responsibility to strengthen the squad now as any delay would allow our competitors to steal a march," he said.
"Negotiations are well under way to strengthen the squad with signings for next year.
"The announcement of Andy Coley today is an indication of our ambition and further signings will be announced soon."
