Andy Coley helped Salford reach the Super League play-offs |
Karl Harrison says forward Andy Coley deserves his Great Britain call-up. "He's been one of the stand-out forwards of the season throughout the competition," said the Salford coach.
"He was my choice as player of the year. He's very quick and very explosive and he's quite a tough kid. He's a useful person to have around."
Warrington-born Coley, 28, takes the place of Bradford second rower Paul Johnson, who was forced to pull out of the squad with an ankle injury.
Coley is part of an advance party that will fly out to Sydney on Tuesday and play in a warm-up match in Newcastle on 20 October.
Great Britain head coach Brian Noble has also been forced to make changes to his standby squad.
Hull prop Paul King and Warrington back rower Ben Westwood come in for the injured Stephen Wild (Huddersfield) and Andy Lynch (Bradford).
Wild suffered a thumb injury in the Giants final game of the season against Bradford and has already had surgery.
"It's an absolutely massive blow for Stephen," said Huddersfield coach and Great Britain assistant Jon Sharp.
"Initially X-rays didn't show a break, and we all thought the pain would go but he went in for another X-ray earlier in the week and our worst fears were confirmed."
Lynch broke his ankle in Bradford's victory over Warrington last week and will be out of action until next season.
Great Britain begin their Tri-Nations campaign against New Zealand in Christchurch on 28 October.
