Lowes had initially been given the job until the end of the season |
Warrington have named James Lowes as their head coach until the end of 2009. The 37-year-old had impressed in the role after taking the job until the end of the season following the sacking of Paul Cullen in May. "Within an hour of talking to the club, everything was sorted," Lowes told BBC Radio Merseyside. "The ball's in my court and I'm going to enjoy this opportunity. Whatever happens at the end of the next year, we'll cross that when we come to it." | 606: DEBATE |
Wolves have recorded a run of six wins in seven games under Lowes' leadership and have seen their bid to make the Grand Final revived. The former Bradford Bulls hooker left Salford City Reds in July 2007 to become assistant at Warrington. He had an illustrious playing career and had spells with Hunslet Hawks and Leeds Rhinos. But Lowes is best known for his time with the Bulls, where he starred between 1996 and 2003. Warrington lie in fourth place in the Super League and face second-placed Leeds on Saturday.
