Bellew was a three-time national champion as an amateur |
Liverpool light-heavyweight Tony Bellew believes he is now the 'most ruthless' prospect in the division after stopping his fourth opponent from six contests. Bellew, 25, knocked out Hastings Rasani on the undercard of the Amir Khan fight in Manchester on Saturday night. "If I hit anyone with this left hook then it's goodnight," Bellew told BBC Radio Merseyside following the first round knockout. "I'm the most ruthless, vicious prospect there is." As an Amateur Bellew was a three-time ABA Champion at heavyweight and a long-time boxer for England. He developed a reputation as a noted puncher and was given the nickname 'the bomber' due to the heavy shots he was capable of delivering and the high percentage of his opponents sent tumbling to the canvas.

Since joining the professional ranks in June last year, Bellew has carved out an unbeaten record of six wins from six. Bellew feels he overwhelmed the vastly-experienced Rasani. "I pushed him on his backfoot and once I started letting them go (his hands) you could see he was scared to death," added Bellew. "I saw it in his face, I don't know what it is but I intimidate people, I'm a huge light-heavyweight. "I've just knocked him out and I've done it faster than Carl Thompson and faster than David Haye." Elsewhere on the bill at the MEN - Merseyside brothers Stephen Smith and Paul Smith Jnr notched up wins by knockout.
