Hull KR have released prop Nick Fozzard from the final year of his contract to enable him to return to St Helens.

The 32-year-old spent five seasons at St Helens before joining Rovers on a two-year deal in September 2008.

Fozzard will be a replacement for New Zealand international Jason Cayless, who is quitting St Helens after failing to recover from a shoulder injury.

Fozzard said: "I'm absolutely thrilled to be back at Saints. It will be great to be back with my old team-mates."

He added: "The Saints fans can expect my absolute best for them next season."

Saints coach Mick Potter said: "We've suffered from not having one of our front line props this season due to Jason Cayless's injury and Nick Fozzard will help fill that role."

Hull KR coach Justin Morgan said: "I'd like to thank Nick for his contribution.

"He has done a great job for us and we wish him all the best for next season."
