Danny Ward joined Quins in 2008 after being release by Hull KR |
Danny Ward has signed a 12-month contract extension with Harlequins. The 29-year-old former Leeds forward joined Quins 18 months ago and would have been out of contract at the end of the season. "There was never a question of me wanting to go anywhere else," he said. "When the club offered me a new contract I was delighted to sign it." Seven Quins players have now signed new contracts, including hooker Chad Randall and half-back Danny Orr. Ward has previously had spells at Hull Kingston Rovers, Castleford and Leeds, where he won a Grand Final title and made two Challenge Cup final appearances. | 606: DEBATE |
Harlequins coach Brian McDermott said: "Danny is a player who you could describe as he does what it says on the tin, he goes out there and performs. "A lot of our attack comes off the back of Danny Ward play-the-balls. He is Mr Consistent." Ward added: "I'm happy down here at Quins, they're a great bunch of lads and I can't see myself playing anywhere else." Meanwhile, hooker Randall looks set to lose his club record appearance run after twisting his knee during Saturday's 32-16 defeat by Huddersfield. That match was the Australian's 101st consecutive appearance but he is now doubtful for Sunday's game against Catalans Dragons in Perpignan.
