Hull Kingston Rovers have extended Michael Dobson's contract by two years, meaning the scrum-half will be staying at Craven Park until 2012.

The 23-year-old Australian has played a huge part in guiding the Robins to second place in the Super League table.

He told BBC Radio Humberside: "I'm really happy about it. I'm happy at the club and I've played my best footy whilst I've been here.

"It's good to get a secure future and there's no reason to go anywhere else."

Dobson has revealed that his ambition to win trophies was a major factor in committing his future to the club.

"We're still building as team and we haven't by far reached our potential," he said. We're sitting second in the league.

"You always want to be at a successful club and a team that's got a winning culture.

"This year and the three years I'm going to be at the club there's going to be plenty of opportunities to win trophies."

The news is a massive boost for his team, according to Hull KR coach Justin Morgan.

He's leading our team around the park perfectly and I'm really delighted that I'm going to be working with him for a number of years

"He's a very pivotal member of our squad," said Morgan. "He's a young half-back and they're like hens teeth on the open market at the moment.

"He's still learning and he's a pleasure to coach. He's leading our team around the park perfectly and I'm really delighted that I'm going to be working with him for a number of years."
