Wigan winger Liam Colbon has agreed to join Hull KR from next season.

The 23-year-old, ever-present for Wigan this season before missing the play-off win over Bradford through illness, has signed a two-year deal at Craven Park.

Rovers coach Justin Morgan told BBC Radio Humberside: "He's coming from a club with a huge amount of history to one with a huge amount of desire.

"Liam will add some great depth and experience to our side and he's a proven performer in Super League."

Colborn leaves the Warriors after three years on a professional contract at the JJB Stadium and replaces Jon Steel in the Robins squad for 2009. And Morgan believes he will fit straight into the dressing room without and fuss.

He's a speedster and somebody who each and every week is very consistent with his performance

He added: "Liam is an extremely mature person even though he's still only in his early twenties and people's personalities are extremely important when you're putting a squad together."

Despite being used as a centre by Wigan - Morgan has revealed that Colborn's role will be different with the Red and Whites.

"We have effectively bought him as an outside back - as a winger but I think he's proven in the last two months of the season under Brian Noble that he can play in the back row.

"He's big enough and robust enough and he's got a big enough engine. He's a speedster and somebody who each and every week is very consistent with his performance."

"It's great to face a new challenge next season," said Colbon, who is back in the Wigan squad to face Catalans Dragons on Saturday.

"It's exciting as a player to join such a progressive club and help them succeed in their bid for silverware."
