Hull in no rush to make signings

Duffen is currently eyeing up new signings for Hull

Hull City chairman Paul Duffen is not prepared to pay over the odds for players during the transfer window.

Duffen told BBC Radio Humberside that he will wait patiently until the right deals are available.

"The timing of making a move for a player is crucial because you don't want to do it as a buyer, you want somebody else to be a seller," he said.

"If we can bring people in when they are surplus to requirements elsewhere, it is a better transaction for us."

The Tigers are hoping to conclude the permanent signing of central defender Kamil Zayatte from Swiss club Young Boys of Berne and the deal is close to being done.

However, with Marlon King and Paul McShane on loan from Wigan and Sunderland at the moment, Hull would have to look overseas for any more loan signings during the January window.

Duffen has admitted that the process of looking beyond England is already under way.

He added: "Right now you've got a situation where both our permitted loan slots are taken up, which means that if that stays the same way we can't loan players from English clubs and we'll have to look abroad to bring any loanees in.

"We have been monitoring players persistently throughout this season that we think might be of interest to join Hull City either now or in the summer and we are looking at positions now that we feel we might want to strengthen."
