Super League outfit Huddersfield Giants have handed Danny Kirmond a four-year contract extension.

The Giants have rewarded the 23-year-old back-row forward for his fine form this season and he will now stay at the Galpharm Stadium until 2013.

"I'm absolutely delighted and obviously with it being a four-year deal, it gives me a great deal of security," said Kirmond.

"The onus is on me to kick on now and improve as I'm hoping to stay longer."

Kirmond added: "I love it here and there's nothing on my mind other than doing the best I can for the Giants in the next four years.

"We are constantly improving and this really is a club on the up.

"Who knows where we will be in four years, it is a very exciting period for the club."

As each game comes and passes, Danny can develop into a very good player

Head coach Nathan Brown on Danny Kirmond

Kirmond moved to the Giants from Championship side Featherstone in 2008.

Head coach Nathan Brown explained: "Danny is definitely an exciting prospect. The club found him playing on the wing for Featherstone, so it was a very good signing at that time.

"Danny has got good speed and footwork, and he can beat people, which is pretty important for a back-rower.

"He is going to continue improving, and has got a long way too go if he wants to fulfil his potential.

"As each game comes and passes, Danny can develop into a very good player."
