Shenton has run in four tries 14 Super League appearances this season |
Castleford's England centre Michael Shenton could be back in action next month after discovering his knee injury is not as serious as first thought. Shenton was carried off late on the Tigers' 24-20 Super League win over Catalans Dragons on Tuesday night. The early fears were that he had suffered major ligament damage, but Cas coach Terry Matterson now says: "We're 99% sure it's not serious. "He saw the specialist yesterday and he's going for precautionary scans." Matterson added: "He definitely won't play at Salford on Sunday and he probably won't play the week after but he could be back the week after that. "We're really pleased because it didn't look good. Something popped out but it popped back in again. We're due a bit of good luck." The Tigers will have utility back Ryan McGoldrick back from suspension for Sunday's encounter with Salford at The Willows.
