Huddersfield Town have signed former Sheffield United goalkeeper Ian Bennett on a free transfer.
The 38-year-old, who also had spells with Peterborough, Birmingham and Leeds, will compete with current first-choice stopper Alex Smithies.
Bennett has agreed to move to the Galpharm Stadium after his contract with the Blades expired.
"I wanted someone to provide Alex Smithies with genuine competition and Ian will do that," said Clarke.
"He has bags of experience, knowledge and know-how that our young goalkeepers will benefit from massively each day in training."
Town boss Lee Clarke knows Bennett well as the pair were both at Newcastle early on in their respective careers.
Bennett began his career at Queens Park Rangers and has also had loan spells with Sheffield United and Coventry.
