Tigers stadium on track - Wright

Castleford Tigers chief executive Richard Wright insists their plans for a new stadium are moving forward.

Tigers were one of five clubs contacted by the Rugby Football League reminding them of their commitment to improving their facilities ahead of 2012.

"The economic slow down has meant our plans have slowed from what we promised in our licence application," Wright told BBC Radio Leeds.

"But we are confident we will satisfy the RFL's requirements for 2012."

Wakefield Council transferred land assets towards the new stadium project last week, which was a major development for the West Yorkshire club.

In their original Super League franchise applications both Castleford Tigers and Wakefield Trinity Wildcats promised to be in new stadiums within three years in time for the next round of licence applications.

Wright added: "We are having at least three meetings a week on the stadium and it is our priority.

"It is about reaching the minimum requirements to be in Super League, but it's also about moving the club forward and developing the club to the very highest levels and standards.

"I'm very confident we will be OK for the next Super League licences."
