Castleford have moved a step closer to building a new stadium with the completion of a detailed draft design. The brief includes details of the facilities to be included in the new ground and a building schedule. Tigers chief executive Richard Wright said: "This will now provide the basis upon which we can go forward. "We have known for some time the broad outline of how the stadium will look. These documents turn those ideas into a practical working concept." Wright added: "We are now able to progress the matter to the next important stage. "We plan to run a design competition and will be inviting interest from a number of architects who we would wish to work with. "We will be providing each with a copy of the design brief and asking them to provide an outline plan for us to consider, and ultimately select a firm to move forward with." Much of the design brief has been done by a stadium-steering group, including former Tigers chairman David Poluter, which was set up by the club a month ago. | The project is also massively important to the community and the local economy. Discussions have also started with a number of organisations keen to be involved with the stadium. "The significant investment in construction is only possible if the stadium is a seven-day-a-week operation and the nature and location of the project is ideal," explained Wright. "We are aware and understand that Tigers fans have become concerned at the lack of news about the progress of the stadium project but the club, Wakefield MDC and Waystone are all committed to the scheme. "We all realise how important the new stadium is to the club, but it is important that we get the facilities right first time and deliver a project fit for purpose and within the budget constraints. "This is not only in regard to the Super League licence for 2012 but also to aid the continued growth of the club to enable us to compete at the highest level and produce a facility with multiple uses. "The project is also massively important to the community and the local economy. "It will create a significant number of jobs, attract more people to the area and provide services to the local community. The benefits of the project are substantial and we have to deliver."
