Ferres has scored eight tries so far this season |
Brett Ferres will remain at Castleford Tigers until the end of the 2012 season after agreeing a new deal. The 23-year-old second-row forward joined the Tigers in November from Wakefield and signed a three-year deal. "I have really enjoyed my first term at Cas and at our best we have shown that we can match most teams in the competition," said Ferres. "Everything tells me that the club is moving in the right direction and I want to be part of that." Ferres added: "I was very happy to join my hometown team in the close season and equally happy to commit myself to the club for another three years beyond this year." | 606: DEBATE |
The forward is a former Castleford scholarship player, but first played professionally with Bradford Bulls between 2005 and 2006, before moving to Wakefield for two seasons. Whilst at Bradford, Ferres made four appearances for England. This season he has made 18 appearances for the Tigers and scored eight tries. Tigers coach Terry Matterson said: "This is very good news for the club and I am personally pleased that Brett has committed himself to the Tigers. "I have been very impressed with his efforts since joining the club, he is very professional in everything that he does and I'm sure that he isn't too far away from a recall to the England squad."
