Ferres has made more than 70 appearances in Super League |
Castleford Tigers have signed former Wakefield and Bradford back-row forward Brett Ferres on a three-year deal. The Castleford-born 22-year-old, a full England international, made his Super League debut for Bradford in 2005. Tigers coach Terry Matterson said: "When we learnt he might be available I was keen to bring him to the club. "He is very talented, and when you add to that the fact that he is young local boy, he is just the sort of player that we are looking to bring into the club." Ferres added: "I'm very happy to be joining Cas - it's my hometown team and the club I watched as a youngster. This is a good opportunity for me, a new start and I'm really looking forward to the new season. "I know quite a few of the players and played alongside Craig Huby and Michael Shenton as a junior. "The squad that Terry has put together has a lot of new faces and some really good players who came through last year, and I feel that we can have a very good season." Wakefield announced on Friday that they would release Ferres from his contract as of 30 November, with one year remaining.
