Australian Evans can play in either attack or defence |
Castleford Tigers have signed centre James Evans following his release by Bradford Bulls. The 29-year-old Australian centre, who has also played for Wakefield, has agreed a one-year deal at the Jungle. Tigers coach Terry Matterson said: "I have worked with James Evans before and rate him very highly. "This past couple of years has seen him blossom into a very influential player whose experience and ability on attack and defence will be a big asset." Evans began his senior career in his native Australia with Canberra Raiders before moving to the UK in 2004 to join Huddersfield Giants where he spent three seasons. At the end of the 2006 season he had a brief spell on loan with the Wildcats. | 606: DEBATE |
His form won him a contract at the Bulls where he has been a regular in their line-up over the past two seasons. He said: "I'm looking forward to joining the Tigers and playing under Terry, who coached me for a time at Canberra. "I think that these are exciting times for Cas and it looks as if they have a big future. "They have been playing some tremendous rugby in recent weeks and have showed the potential for next year, and with some new faces coming on board I feel that they can go really well."
