Moxon backs Vaughan's sabbatical

Michael Vaughan
Vaughan has scored just 41 runs in his last four Championship innings

Yorkshire director of cricket Martyn Moxon believes Michael Vaughan will benefit from taking a three-month break from international cricket.

The former England captain has struggled with the bat since giving up the role in August.

Moxon told BBC Radio Leeds: "I think he has got to the stage where he's mentally fatigued and that does affect your play.

"You can't play to your potential so I think it's best for Michael."

Meanwhile Yorkshire's chief executive Stewart Regan has told BBC Radio Leeds he is confident their newly signed two-year sponsorship deal with the Bradford and Bingley will not be threatened by the problems that have afflicted the bank.

Yorkshire have yet to sit down with their sponsors, but Regan says the fact the government is nationalising the bank, and taking control of its 50bn mortgages and loans, gives them confidence.
