| Sunday, 23 June, 2002, 17:52 GMT 18:52 UK Hull cruise to victory Craig Greenhill's try turned the game Hull's way Hull 40-22 Halifax Halifax's miserable run against Hull continued on Sunday when they were easily beaten at the Boulevard. Teenager Kirk Yeaman was the star of the show, marking his Super League debut with two tries as Hull ran home comfortable winners. Yeaman had the daunting task of replacing Super League's top try-scorer Graham McKay but the 18-year-old handled the job in style.
Halifax, who have lost their last five encounters against Hull, stormed into a 10-0 lead after just six minutes with two tries by Shane McMenemy. But Hull, who were determined not to lose their third successive game, struck back in style. Toa Kohe-Love got the ball rolling but it was Craig Greenhill's try just before half-time that turned the game Hull's way. Hull led at the break thanks to Matt Crowther's kicking and within four minutes of the restart they were further clear through tries by Steve Prescott and Yeaman. Crowther, Paul Parker and Yeaman added further tries as Halifax failed to stop the Boulevarders who are chasing a spot in the top four. Although Lee Greenwood and Jamie Bloem scored for Halifax it was too little too late.
Hull coach Shaun McRae was delighted with his side's performance. He said: "I thought we played some excellent football at times, particularly in the second half. "We didn't make the best of starts but came back well and we could have scored at least another four tries. "At times we got a little over-ambitious and that cost us a few points, but overall I was pleased with the performance. "It's a good start to the second half of the season for us." Blue Sox coach Steve Linnane admitted his side had been well beaten. He said: "The try before half-time and the two just after the break killed us off. "Hull's off-loads and their support play put our defence under too much pressure and I have to say they were well worth the win." Hull: Prescott, Raynor, Kohe-Love, Yeaman, Crowther, Horne, J.
