Bulls crush struggling Salford
Bradford's Paul Deacon
Deacon had a hand in most of Bradford's attacking play
Salford 10-48 Bradford

Scrum-half Paul Deacon was in outstanding form as Bradford destroyed Salford on Sunday and piled the misery on former assistant coach Karl Harrison.

Deacon converted all of the rampant Bulls' eight tries and was involved in much of their attacking play in an extremely dominant performance.

Lee Gilmour and Tevita Vaikona weighed in with two tries apiece and there were further scores for Daniel Gartner, Robbie Paul, Leon Pryce and Brandon Costin.

The home side drew first blood when Graham Holroyd broke clear of the Bulls' defence to set up Francis Maloney for the opening try after six minutes.

Bobbie Goulding, restored to the side after an internal dispute that saw him suspended, converted to make it 6-0 but the struggling Reds' lead was never going to last.

Gilmour grabbed Bradford's first and after that it was one-way traffic with Vaikona's 13th try of the season putting the Bulls ahead after 16 minutes.

Deacon created his side's third four minutes later, sending in Gartner after another quick break.

Paul was on hand to score the next on 25 minutes after Naylor had again forced his way through an already tired looking Reds' line.

This was a welcome to the real world...they showed us how rugby league should be played

Goulding went close to pulling one back against the run of play but Gilmour soon resumed normal service when he sprinted into his second from 35 metres on 34 minutes.

Substitute Pryce then made no mistake immediately after the restart when he ran in from the halfway line.

The league leaders allowed their hosts a consolation try in the 63rd minute as Nick Pinkey found space on the right.

The Reds remained vulnerable to quick counter-attacks and they were twice punished inside five minutes by Vaikona and Costin.

Ian Watson's red card for trying to stop the rampant Deacon in the closing minutes ended a miserable day for Salford.
