Meli (left) will await the result of a scan on his leg injury |
New Zealand winger Francis Meli will play no part in Tuesday's Test against Great Britain after picking up a leg injury playing for St Helens. The 27-year-old was injured in the late stages of Saints' victory over Salford and left the field on a stretcher.
"We'll know more when he has a scan and we're hoping we're looking at a few weeks and not the season," said St Helens coach Daniel Anderson.
Jason Cayless and Vinnie Anderson are also doubts for New Zealand.
The Saints duo also picked up knocks playing for St Helens, leaving New Zealand coach Brian McClennan with a headache.
The Test takes place at St Helens' Knowsley Road home and (prior to the latest injuries) Saints expected to have as many as 12 players in action.
