Dave Woods' squad has returned to training ready for 2011 |
Former Leeds Rhinos Academy forward Ben Jones has signed for York City Knights for the forthcoming season. The 22-year-old spent last season at Harlequins in Super League and also had a spell on loan at Doncaster. Knights coach Dave Woods told BBC Radio York: "Ben has been at a Super League club last year and he's got a little bit of size about him. "Although he's only young he's got some experience so he'll be a welcome addition for us." Woods added: "He was brought up at Leeds and played in the juniors there. He's got some good background about him to come through their system." | For him to play four or five Super League games you've got to have something about you |
Jones has appeared for Yorkshire and England at Under-17 and Under-18 levels as well as playing in Super League. Woods said although Jones had played only a handful of Super League games at Harlequins the experience will prove valuable in the Championship. "He's only played a few games. He hasn't played a full season or half a season or anything like that but it's the same with Tom Bush. "You play a Super League game and they're not going to put you back in there if you haven't done something ok, or you haven't got the ability. "For him to play four or five Super League games you've got to have something about you."
