Harrogate Town slipped to eleventh place in Blue Square Bet North after a second consecutive defeat.
Paul Brayson scored from the penalty spot to hand Blyth Spartans a 1-0 win after Harrogate's Sonny Bradley was sent off.
Town manager Simon Weaver told BBC Radio York: "I just find it really frustrating because we dominated large periods of the game yet again.
"We must have been in their half the majority of the game."
He added: "We all want results, no matter how you you play you play to win. The turning point was the sending off.
"We'd just talked about that at half time, making sure there was no gaps so that the diagonal ball didn't do us.
"But it did and we pointed the finger at a couple of people there, because that 70 yard ball should be cut out without a doubt."
Weaver felt a draw would have been a fairer result.
"It's always quiet up here because they're a very quiet crowd. But it was silent tonight and then they got uptight later on and they think this shouldn't be happening against just ten men. They should have really put us to the sword.
"But we kept them quiet throughout the game because we played so well in terms of keeping possession.
"But even when we had 11 men, I don't think we played with enough fizz up front."
