Henderson left Barrow in July to join Sheffield

Sheffield hooker Andrew Henderson has won his case against former club Barrow for breach of contract at a Rugby Football League tribunal.

Henderson, 31, was suspended without pay by the Raiders but successfully argued that the club were in breach of contract in failing to pay due sums.

"I'm very happy with the verdict," Henderson told the BBC.

"It has been a tough year for me and my family with what's happened but hopefully we can draw a line under it."

No details of the dispute were made public but the BBC understands that the row was financial.

The Scotland international, who joined Sheffield in July, currently occupies a player-coach role at the Don Valley Stadium under coach Mark Aston.

"I want to thank the RFL operations tribunal for their time and their ruling," Henderson continued.

"I'd like to thank the GMB Union and representative Geoff Burrow for their advice, guidance, support and legal care, along with my agent Ron Hill and my family and friends who have backed me through this incident.

The player's solicitor Justin Madders called the the judgement "comprehensive".

"An employer should not be able to try to walk away from a legally binding contract with an employee," he added.

Henderson lists Salford, Barrow, Balmain Tigers and Castleford among his professional clubs.

Barrow Raiders have declined to comment on the case.
