York City Knights slipped to fourth in Championship One after losing 33-18 to Oldham at the Huntington Stadium. Wayne Reittie scored two tries and Jack Stearman one, with Danny Ratcliffe kicking three goals, but the defeat allowed Rochdale to go above them. Knights coach Dave Woods told BBC Radio York: "We didn't come up with the right options at the right times and that, in the end, was our downfall. "We had them on the ropes at one stage but we lacked that killer punch." He added: "I'm just disappointed with what we did out there. The scoreline shouldn't have been as high as it was." The Knights end their league campaign next Sunday with a trip to South Wales, who beat Doncaster 22-8. "The players have spoken about going there and showing what should have happened today," Woods added. "Today was a game that didn't really matter to too many people because we're both in the semi-finals, but we'd still like to have got the win."
