Coach Dave Woods delighted with York City Knights win

York City Knights

York City Knights coach Dave Woods praised his players after they climbed to fourth in Championship One.

The Knights beat Doncaster 32-16 with a hat-trick of tries from Tom Lineham and others from Jack Lee, Danny Wilson, Lee Waterman and Mike Mitchell.

Woods told BBC Radio York: "First half we let in a couple of soft tries and we weren't happy about that at half-time.

"We addressed that and to their credit they came out in the second half and did well with the defence again."

He added: "Good effort from them (Knights) in the second half to just keep them to that one try when they had the wind at their backs."

Woods picked out half back Danny Ratcliffe and hooker Jack Lee for praise.

"I thought Danny was outstanding," he said.

"I thought that was the best game I've seen him play for the club this year so far. Jack was good again. They're good because the forwards are going forward."

The Knights travel to league leaders Hunslet next weekend.

Woods said: "We just need to keep our discipline. Our discipline's been good these last two games and our line speed's been tremendous.

"If we keep that up and if we defend well we can score tries. We'll just go there and hopefully give another performance like today and last week."
