York City Knights have had their plans to bring an unnamed Super League player to the club put on hold. The Knights have struggled with injuries in recent weeks and have been looking to bring players in to strengthen their squad. York coach James Ratcliffe told BBC Radio York: "Potentially we had one coming in last week. "But his club, a Super League side, has got massive injury problems as well so that's been held back." The Knights have recently released Joe McLocklin and Danny Hill and brought in Danny Allen on loan from Featherstone Rovers in a bid to freshen up their squad. Ratcliffe said: "Going out we've probably got rid of the ones that wanted to go or we felt that needed to go. | Potentially we're looking for player who can strengthen us coming in to the business end of the season |
"The two or three that were still on the borderline wish to stay and commit to how we want to do things over here which is really good for the club and also for the players. "But again potentially we're looking for player who can strengthen us coming in to the business end of the season." Meanwhile the Knights will have Jordan Ross and Steve Lewis available for their Championship 1 game at London Skolars. Both have recovered from injury while Danny Allen could return by the start of July after picking up a shoulder injury in the Northern Rail Cup defeat at Keighley. Ratcliffe added: "Danny's not had a scan as yet but we feel he probably doesn't need a scan at this moment in time. "What the doctors have said is he's strained his ligaments in his anterior cruciate joint. "It's not displaced but he will need an operation in the next twelve months or so. "We're going to start him on a rehab programme and hopefully he'll be back for the Doncaster game."
