Expect budget cuts at Whitehaven - chairman Dick Raaz
Whitehaven chairman Dick Raaz has warned supporters that reduced attendances will result in budget cuts at the Recreation Ground this season.
Seven defeats from nine saw the last home attendance slip to just 900 for the defeat by Keighley, and the chairman admitted debt is a concern.
"The board's obligation is to keep the club solvent, first and foremost," Raaz told BBC Radio Cumbria.
"The bottom line is the club has to get £100,000 healthier during the season."
Raaz added: "We're going to make the budget balance, we have a plan on all components of our spend."
The Marras lie down in ninth place in the Championship, two places off the foot of the table, but the American chairman is sure current boss Ged Stokes is the right man for the job.
"We're going with coach Stokes, he is a good coach and the best path forward," Raaz said.
"I absolutely don't want any controversy over who the coach is, he's the man who can do it and the board trusts him."
