York City Knights will wait until after their pre-season friendlies before naming their captain for 2010. A number of players are being looked at including Danny Ratcliffe who will lead the team against York Select. Coach James Ratcliffe told BBC Radio York: "There are three or four lads who have put their names up already. "There are two or three that we've got in mind as well but we felt it only right to give all of them the chance of actually doing the job." A different player is set to lead the team in each of the warm-up matches which begin on 27 December. Ratcliffe added: "We're going to put them into game scenarios and see how they react in the game and make decisions after the friendlies." | We saw two or three guys we've been looking at as potential captains in different situations |
The Knights recently spent a day training at an army camp near York and Ratcliffe said that the occasion was a good chance to consider candidates for the role. "We saw two or three guys we've been looking at as potential captains in different situations - team building and problem solving - and how you pull people through when basically you've got nothing else to give," he added.
