Whitehaven were stunned by struggling Batley at Mount Pleasant in a 48-24 defeat in the Championship on Sunday. The notorious slope was in Batley's favour in the first half, as the hosts notched five tries to the Marras' one in the opening period. After the break Whitehaven launched a fight-back with a three-try burst but conceded a further three to the Bulldogs as they slumped to defeat. Haven slip to fifth in the table with five wins and five defeats.
