Featherstone to support Doncaster

Featherstone Rovers

Featherstone Rovers have announced they will donate some of Sunday's gate receipts against Doncaster to the cash-strapped South Yorkshire club.

Rovers will allow season ticket holders from any other club in for £14 and will then donate 50% of that entry fee back to Doncaster.

"Whilst only a small gesture we are pleased to be able to make this offer," said chief executive Andy Prout.

Kick-off at the Chris Moyles Stadium is at 1500 BST on Sunday.

Doncaster have been forced to off-load players as part of their cost cutting measures, with Paul Handforth (Batley) and Kyle Briggs (Featherstone) the most recent to leave just this week.

Prout added: "It is a very challenging economic and financial time for all clubs.

"It is particularly sad that having achieved promotion from division two last year, Doncaster are now facing tough times both on and off the field, and it is times like this that the rugby league community must pull together for the long term sustainability of the game.

"We hope to be able to provide some form of financial assistance on the back of people watching rugby league at this level, so we are asking all season ticket holders and true rugby league fans show their support for Doncaster in this difficult time."
