Warrington brushed aside Featherstone with a 10-try display to reach the quarter-finals of the Challenge Cup. Centre Chris Hicks was in fine form, touching down two tries as well as adding 16 points with the boot, while debutant Richie Mathers scored twice. A Tom Saxton put Rovers in front, but Warrington took control through Simon Grix, Paul Wood, Ben Harrison, Michael Monaghan, Chris Riley and Chris Bridge. Tom Haughey scored a consolation try for the National League One side. Hicks continued his excellent run of form which has seen him score 94 points in four matches.
Warrington coach Tony Smith: "They are a good team for their division and very good with the ball. That showed in their first try when they undid us, but even during that period I thought our defence was good. "The signs were there right through, with and without the ball. I felt confident and it looked confident. "I didn't think we were troubled in any area except for that one play. I felt the scoreline was a fair reflection of the game." Featherstone coach Daryl Powell: "I thought we started well and put some pressure on Warrington but we were unable to sustain that. "That is the disappointing element but I suppose that is the difference between Super League and the Championship. "We should and could have been closer to Warrington and we should have been more clinical."
